Throughout the history child marriage has been popular. Back then kings
used to marry their children for political and financial bonding.
In today’s world Still child marriage is prevalent in developing
countries and widely accepted in spite of their drawbacks. Poverty , lack of
education awareness , illiteracy , ignorance , dowry are the reasons behind the
child marriage. There is common acceptancy
in society that a girl cannot earn her own livelihood and thus she gets
married where she has to be dependent on men she has gotten married and follow
whatever he tells her to do. In some or another way she becomes slave of his.

In child marriage girl is not the only one who gets affected and gets
their innocence snatched . boys also highly gets affected by the marriage. The
kids who doesn’t even know the meaning of marriage gets bonded and left on
mercy of fate. In these kind of marriages a girl child gets pregnant
earlier in stead of her capability to carry the child. It severely affects the physical condition of that girl which also result in abortion of
child or premature death of that child. As they are not aware of reproductive
issues they more likely die while child birth.
Girls younger than 15 years are 5 times more likely to die in child
birth.
In Child marriage both girl and boy gets stuck in the cage. Their
happens to be no room for personality development. And hence this crucial
practice of child marriage gets pass on by generation. Girl child in these
marriages often experience domestic violence from elderly lady of the house.
When the age gap is more the both partners girl even get slapped or sexually
abused from her husband. Girl kids often go through stress. Our society is
structured in such a brutal way that a girl cant even go to her parents with
her grievances. A girl have no way to go after this harassment as she has been
married early so she had no scope to gain education and thus she is incapable
of earning anything by herself thus she remains with no option but to stay with
her abusive family.
The laws has been passed to curb child marriages. ‘APNI BETI APNA DHAN’
is India’s first conditional cast transfer programmes dedicated to delaying
young marriages across India. The
government of india have took steps to discontinue child marriage. They have
passed the prohibition of child marriage act 2006 has been made effective from
1st November 2007 in India.
