In
today’s world child labour is a curse foe society. We see children mainly in
cities working on road construction and building construction sites but very
effectively we ignore them. ‘We see them but we prefer to see through them’. We
are so ignorant and caught in our own lives that when a kid pass through us
carrying luggage of others which is not at all suitable for his physical
condition we don’t even get feeling of helping them to put them off their
misery.

Child
labour doesn’t allow a child to go to school as the kid is preoccupied to give
hand to their parents in work in hazardous job. In these cases parents are also
unwilling to send their children to schools as they are more concern of earning
meal of one time. Poverty and illiteracy are main problem behind child
labour. Child labour deprives the
ability of kid to grow. It even affects them physically, mentally and emotionally. Children are our hopes of future by allowing
child labour we are directly or indirectly putting our future in danger. Child
labour instead of their age contributes in house hold income from 20% to 40%.
There
are lack of other options against child laour. Even if we rehabilitate
them there are no other alternatives to put them in. some of the times their own
parents don’t allow them . There are even chances that child labour becomes
hereditary as at very early age kids put their foot on path of their parents
and learn domestic works. Most of the times girl are caught in this as because
of lack of awareness of education girls are not sent in schools and hence they
are assumed to work in domestic business as they have nothing else to do.
Sometimes in most of rural areas
even if schools are available they are too far away and unreachable.
Even in some schools fees are so high that parents cant even afford the fees.
In case if couple have 2 or than that children they give priority to boy child
to give education.
In
India Untouchability
is still prevailing, in result the children gets affected the most.
Especially in rural areas untouchables that shudra
are not allowed in schools because
of casteism which doesn’t give them chance to even try to get in main stream.
Big
companies prefer child labour because they get paid less. When children are
engaged in physically hazardous job they get exhausted more quickly which
hampers their physical condition which make them more pro to diseases and make
them vulnerable.
The
government had put steps forward to immunize the child labour. Article 24 of
India’s constitution prohibits child labour.
